MotoGP confirms Qatar Grand Prix will proceed in November
The 2026 MotoGP Qatar Grand Prix is scheduled to take place at the Lusail circuit from November 6 to 8, despite ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. The International Road Racing Teams Association (IRTA) has informed teams of the decision to maintain the rescheduled dates, which were moved from April due to regional conflicts involving Iran, Israel, and the United States.
While organizers and MotoGP leadership emphasize that safety remains the absolute priority, the racing community remains divided. Reports indicate that approximately 75% of riders have expressed concerns regarding participation, while 25% are willing to compete. Organizers have implemented contingency plans and are relying on security assurances from local authorities.
The Qatar event is part of a three-week consecutive stretch including races in Australia and Malaysia. Other calendar adjustments include the Portuguese Grand Prix moving to November 20-22 and the season finale in Valencia scheduled for November 27-29.
