MotoGP fuel costs could reach €86 per liter by 2027
MotoGP is preparing for a major technical transition in 2027, which includes a shift to 850cc engines and the mandatory use of 100% non-fossil fuels. This change may lead to a significant increase in operational costs.
Reports from the paddock suggest that the price of the new non-fossil fuel could reach approximately €86 per liter, compared to the current cost of €10 to €15 per liter. Under the new regulations, the maximum fuel capacity for a main race will be reduced from 22 to 20 liters, meaning a single full tank could cost roughly €1,720.
Beyond race day costs, manufacturers face substantial expenses during testing and engine development. One manufacturer reportedly anticipates using approximately 15,768 liters for Grand Prix weekends and official tests, with an additional 25,000 liters required for test riders and bench development.
