MotoGP Indonesian Grand Prix sees Rossi tire allegations and Márquez policy criticism

During the MotoGP Indonesian Grand Prix at the Mandalika Circuit, two distinct controversies have emerged involving prominent riders and technical regulations.

Old allegations regarding Valentino Rossi have resurfaced, with former collaborator Edu Villodre suggesting that Michelin may have provided preferential treatment to the Italian champion during his rivalry with Sete Gibernau. Villodre claimed that tire distribution was non-transparent, alleging that while competitors like Gibernau often found specific tire options exhausted, Rossi appeared to always have access to the best strategic choices.

Separately, eight-time world champion Marc Márquez has publicly criticized a new MotoGP policy regarding fan engagement. The regulation mandates a minimum ten-minute presence at the ‘MotoGP Hero Walk’ for autographs and photos, with non-compliance resulting in fines of €5,000. Márquez argued that while he supports the growth of the sport, the increasing pressure of off-track commercial obligations places an undue burden on the physical well-being of the athletes.
