MotoGP prioritizes stability over adding sixth manufacturer
MotoGP Sporting Director Carlos Ezpeleta has stated that the championship is not rushing to add a sixth manufacturer to its grid. Currently operating with five manufacturers and 22 motorcycles, Dorna Sports is prioritizing the sporting and economic stability of existing teams over rapid expansion. Ezpeleta noted that while new manufacturers are welcome, the process of reaching MotoGP levels is "extremely difficult."
Despite the cautious approach to new entrants, China remains a key area of interest. Chinese manufacturer CFMOTO has identified MotoGP as a long-term strategic goal and is already active in Moto3 and Moto2, while also holding a majority stake in chassis supplier Kalex. Additionally, the FIM has inspected the Ningbo Circuit for a potential return of the Superbike World Championship, and discussions regarding a Chinese Grand Prix continue.
