MotoGP riders Alex Rins and Fermin Aldeguer face setbacks at Mandalika

Spanish MotoGP riders Alex Rins and Fermin Aldeguer faced significant personal and physical setbacks during the Mandalika 2026 event in Indonesia.

Yamaha rider Alex Rins received death threats from social media users after a video surfaced showing him gesturing offensively toward a track marshal. The incident stemmed from a misunderstanding following a crash during a practice session on Friday, October 9, when Rins believed a scooter would transport him directly to the paddock. Rins issued a public apology via his X account, acknowledging his unprofessional emotional reaction while stating he rejects the threats to his safety.

Gresini Racing rider Fermin Aldeguer suffered a hand injury following a crash at turn 16 during the race. Aldeguer sustained a fracture to the base of the first metacarpal bone in his right hand due to an emotional outburst following the incident, which will require surgical intervention.
