Pirelli to Supply MotoGP Tyres from 2027 after Brno Test of New 850cc Bikes

Pirelli announced that it will become the official tyre supplier for the MotoGP World Championship starting in the 2027 season, using the same technology it employs for its road‑car tyres. The company held a closed‑door test at the Brno circuit in the Czech Republic, where top riders such as Marc Márquez (Ducati), Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia) and Joan Mir (Honda) evaluated the new prototype tyres made in Breuberg, Germany.

The test also featured the first run‑off of the upcoming 850 cc prototype machines that will replace the current 1000 cc bikes. Riders noted the different feel of the Pirelli rubber, with Mir saying the bike was “fun” and that “the other tyres [Pirelli] work in a completely different way.” The switch from Michelin, the sole supplier since 2016, marks the most significant equipment change in MotoGP in over a decade and will shape the dynamics of the series from next year onward.
