MotoGP to Kick Off 2027 Season at Thailand's Buriram Circuit
MotoGP has confirmed that the opening round of the 2027 championship will take place at the Chang International Circuit in Buriram, Thailand, from 5‑7 March. The race will be the first under the new 850 cc engine formula, marking the start of a technical era that reduces cylinder capacity, limits aerodynamics and introduces tighter controls on ride‑height devices.
This will be the third consecutive season‑opening event hosted by Thailand, following the circuit’s debut in 2025 and its repeat in 2026, which attracted a record 228,228 spectators. MotoGP CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta said the partnership with Thailand demonstrates the “exceptional collaboration” and “incredible passion of the fans,” calling Buriram the ideal venue to launch the new era.
The move underscores Thailand’s growing importance as a strategic market for the series in Southeast Asia.
