MotoGP to proceed with Qatar Grand Prix despite regional tensions
MotoGP promoter Carmelo Ezpeleta has confirmed that the Qatar Grand Prix is still scheduled to take place at the Lusail Circuit on November 8, despite ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. Ezpeleta stated that organizers are in constant communication with Qatari authorities, who have expressed their readiness to host the event.
“Currently the idea is to go. We are in routine communication with Qatar, the authorities there say they are ready to host, and if there is no radical change, we will go,” Ezpeleta told DAZN. This decision follows the rescheduling of the race from April to November due to security concerns.
The regional instability has already impacted other motorsport series; Formula 1 canceled plans for Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, while the WEC and WRC have also faced cancellations or changes. MotoGP is monitoring the situation closely and will consider regional developments before finalizing its 2027 calendar, which is expected to be released within the coming weeks.
