MotoGP to showcase bikes at the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix in Austin
Liberty Media, which holds the commercial rights to both Formula 1 and MotoGP, is examining the possibility of staging a MotoGP demonstration during the United States Grand Prix at the Circuit of the Americas in late October. The plan would involve fully operational MotoGP exhibition machines – either current‑spec or previous‑spec prototypes – completing several demonstration laps for spectators. Former riders from the manufacturers or teams may pilot the bikes, but regular MotoGP riders will not take part because the F1 weekend coincides with the Australian Grand Prix.
MotoGP Sports Entertainment Group has opened discussions with the bike manufacturers to gauge participation and view the event as a marketing effort to grow the series’ fanbase in the United States. Logistics such as transport costs and staffing for the demo have yet to be settled.
