Motol athletics stadium in Prague set for €105 million redevelopment

The city of Prague will transform the former greyhound racing track in the Motol district into a modern athletics stadium. The €105 million project will feature a six‑lane oval with eight straight tracks, facilities for high jump, pole vault, long jump, javelin, discus and other events, plus a regeneration area with saunas, whirlpools and a training tunnel for use in bad weather. Seating capacity is planned at about 450, with space for food services on the upper level.

The existing building will be retained for athlete support areas, and the venue is expected to host up to 1,500 athletes weekly, accommodate local schools and clubs, and be capable of holding larger European athletics competitions. The redevelopment follows the city’s purchase of the former greyhound track for CZK 215.8 million and aims to address capacity shortfalls at existing Prague athletics facilities.
