Motor explosion at Koudekerk aan den Rijn tractor event draws 15,000 fans

The annual Trekkertrek family day in Koudekerk aan den Rijn, Netherlands, attracted more than 15,000 visitors to watch tractor‑pulling competitions. During the event a tractor’s motor exploded, forcing the machine out of the race. Participant John, who usually competes with his own team, joked that he was there “for the beer” after the failure, while fellow competitor Justin was also present.

Despite the incident, the crowd remained enthusiastic and the day’s programme continued, with dozens of other tractors competing across several weight classes. Organisers and spectators described the event as a highlight of the local calendar, with early arrivals and a festive atmosphere.

The incident was reported by regional broadcaster Omroep West, and no injuries were reported.
