Nesebar paramotor crash kills one and leaves pilot critical
A fatal crash involving a homemade, unregistered paramotor occurred in the Black Sea near the coast between Ravda and Nesebar, Bulgaria. The accident resulted in the death of a 56-year-old man and left the 71-year-old pilot in critical condition with multiple traumas.
Investigations by the Civil Aviation Administration and the Burgas District Prosecutor's Office revealed that the aircraft was amateur-built, unmaintained, and lacked any official registration or type certification. The engine was found to be rusted, and the propeller had amateur repairs. Furthermore, the pilot did not possess a valid national license or flight certification.
The National Investigation Service has taken over the case due to the severity of the consequences. Local flight instructor Gicho Kovachev reported that he had filed multiple warnings regarding the dangerous and illegal flights conducted by the owner, including a report made just ten days prior to the crash. He alleged that the operator had been conducting unauthorized passenger flights for payment.
