Toyota Mirai hydrogen cars debut on Greek roads
Two Toyota Mirai fuel‑cell electric vehicles were delivered to Greece, becoming the first passenger hydrogen cars to be officially registered in the country. The vehicles were handed over to the Municipality of Loutraki‑Pera Chora‑Agion Theodoron and to the logistics firm Olympias Odos, with the hand‑over taking place at the AVIN hydrogen‑fuel station in Agios Theodoron, where the first refuelling was performed.
The delivery is part of the EU‑funded TRIERES – Greek Hydrogen Valley project, financed by the Clean Hydrogen Partnership under Horizon Europe and coordinated by the Motor Oil group. The consortium comprises 26 partners from five countries and aims to build a full hydrogen value chain—from renewable production and storage to transport, refuelling infrastructure and pilot applications in transport, industry and energy. Konstantinos Chatzifotis, Director of European Affairs at Motor Oil, said the registration and circulation of the first passenger hydrogen vehicles on Greek roads “is a significant milestone for sustainable mobility in our country.”
