Argentina confronts illegal motorbike use in Posadas, Rosario and Mar del Plata
In Posadas, residents of Villa Cabello complained that gatherings of motorbike stunt riders have surged from a handful to over 200 people and 70‑80 motorcycles. The group, largely composed of minors, performs dangerous maneuvers on streets and sidewalks, prompting threats and calls for stricter vehicle controls and enforcement of existing traffic ordinances.
In Rosario, a crash involving a motor‑assisted bicycle (bicimoto) that ran a red light and struck a motorcyclist highlighted the city's concerns over unregistered vehicles. Officials warned that bicimotos lack proper brakes and safety certification, making them illegal for public road use.
In Mar del Plata, nightly concentrations of dozens of motorcycles at the intersection of Fortunato de la Plaza and Peralta Ramos have become a regular disturbance. Residents report loud engine noise, reckless riding, and blocked traffic, describing the gatherings as a recurring public‑order issue.
