Motorcycle accident on Dhaka-Mawa Expressway kills expatriate
Hridoy Hossain, a 25-year-old expatriate worker from Saudi Arabia, died following a motorcycle accident on the Dhaka-Mawa Expressway near the Kuchiamora Bridge in Munshiganj. The incident occurred around 6:00 AM on Friday while Hossain was returning home with friends after a trip to Mawa.
While initial reports suggested the accident was caused by Hossain losing control of his motorcycle due to speeding, his family and companions have disputed this claim. They allege that a group of reckless riders traveling at high speeds, estimated between 150 and 160 km/h, struck Hossain’s motorcycle from behind, causing him to be thrown against the road railing.
Hossain’s sister and traveling companions stated that he was driving at a normal speed and accused unruly biker groups of racing on the expressway. Hossain, who was the primary provider for his mother, wife, and 22-month-old daughter, was scheduled to return to Saudi Arabia next month. A passenger on the motorcycle, Sajjad, was injured in the crash and taken to the hospital.
