Motorcycle accident on Susten Pass leaves two injured

A motorcycle accident occurred near Gorezmettlen on the Susten Pass on Sunday, August 9, 2026, resulting in minor injuries to a rider and a passenger. The incident took place around 11:30 a.m. as a motorcycle with Lucerne license plates was traveling toward Meien.

According to the Uri Cantonal Police, a car driver from Meien was attempting to overtake a cyclist when the motorcyclist, approaching from the opposite direction, fell for reasons that remain unclear. The motorcycle struck a roadside stone and was thrown into the oncoming lane, where it collided with a parked car. Both occupants of the motorcycle were transported to the Uri Cantonal Hospital for medical evaluation.

Due to conflicting accounts from the drivers involved, the exact circumstances of the accident are unknown. Police are appealing to the public for assistance, specifically requesting that the cyclist involved in the overtaking maneuver or any other witnesses contact the Uri Cantonal Police.
