Oberhof: 20-year-old motorcyclist dies in single-vehicle accident

A 20-year-old motorcyclist died following a single-vehicle accident on Benkenstrasse in Oberhof on Thursday evening. The individual was traveling downhill from the pass summit toward Oberhof when they reportedly lost control in a right-hand curve.

The motorcyclist veered into an adjacent meadow before crashing across the roadway and colliding with a guardrail. A second motorcyclist, also 20 years old, was traveling behind the victim and immediately attempted resuscitation efforts. Despite the intervention of the driver and arriving emergency services, the man succumbed to his injuries at a nearby hospital.

The Aargau Cantonal Police have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident, and the public prosecutor's office has opened an inquiry. Specialists from the accident investigation unit secured evidence at the scene. The road was closed for several hours during the recovery and investigation process.
