Motorcycle crash kills teenager on Interstate 44 in Missouri

A 17-year-old boy from St. Clair died Wednesday night following a collision on eastbound Interstate 44 in St. Louis County, Missouri. The incident occurred shortly after 9 p.m. near Geyer Road, east of Interstate 270.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the teenager was operating a 2025 Kawasaki Ninja and had been involved in an initial crash that left the motorcycle overturned in the second eastbound lane. A 52-year-old man from Ocala, Florida, driving a 2007 International, approached the scene and attempted to steer left to avoid the wreckage. Due to unlit roadway conditions and the teenager wearing dark clothing, the driver struck the motorcycle and the victim.

Emergency personnel pronounced the teenager dead at the scene at 9:14 p.m. Investigators noted the teenager was using safety equipment at the time of the crash. The collision caused a significant shutdown of eastbound Interstate 44 for several hours while the Major Crash Investigation Unit conducted a reconstruction of the scene.
