Motorcycle regulations for bus-taxi lanes in Madrid and Barcelona

Regulations regarding motorcycle use in bus-taxi lanes in Spain vary significantly by municipality and specific road signage. In Madrid, motorcycles with engines exceeding 50 cc are permitted to use these lanes provided the signage explicitly allows it. However, certain sections, such as Paseo de la Castellana between Joaquín Costa and Plaza de Castilla, remain prohibited for motorcycles due to high accident rates. Mopeds are strictly prohibited from using these lanes in Madrid.

In contrast, Barcelona maintains a total prohibition on motorcycles using bus-taxi lanes. Drivers are advised to check local signage, as the presence of a motorcycle symbol is required for legal access, and rules are not uniform across the country.
