Turkey announces 2027 security and traffic safety roadmap
The 2027 Presidential Annual Program outlines comprehensive new strategies for national security and traffic safety in Turkey. To enhance road safety, authorities plan to conduct 115 million vehicle and driver inspections, with 60 million managed by the gendarmerie and 55 million by the police. A key technological upgrade includes the deployment of 44 average speed violation detection systems. These systems calculate speed based on the time taken to travel between two points, preventing drivers from simply slowing down when approaching a radar camera.
Security forces will also intensify efforts against organized crime, terrorism, and drug trafficking. The program aims to disrupt the economic infrastructure of criminal networks by increasing operations against organized crime by 1 percent and conducting nearly 3,000 operations targeting the financial and logistical channels of terrorist organizations. Enhanced coordination with the Financial Crimes Investigation Board (MASAK) is expected to help intercept illegal capital.
Additionally, the program includes social initiatives such as providing traffic awareness training to 75,000 students via mobile training trucks and strengthening institutional capacity to combat violence against women and children.
