Motorcycle theft trends and recovery in Grande ABC

The Municipal Civil Guard (GCM) of Mauá recovered a motorcycle in the Jardim Feital neighborhood following a report from a citizen. The vehicle, a black Shineray, had been stolen from a shop in Santo André earlier that morning. During the operation, two suspects attempted to flee on foot into a wooded area but were apprehended after a coordinated search by multiple GCM teams. One suspect admitted to purchasing the stolen motorcycle, knowing its origin. Both individuals were taken to the 4th Police District.

In the broader Grande ABC region, data from the Public Security Secretariat (SSP) indicates a significant trend in vehicle crime. Between January and August, there were 2,023 recorded instances of motorcycle theft or robbery, averaging one occurrence every three hours. While motorcycle thefts in the seven cities of the region have seen a 24% decrease compared to the previous year, two-wheeled vehicles still account for 34.7% of all vehicle-related crimes, following cars at 56.2%.
