Motorcyclist dies in fatal accident on Oncán-Tixpehual highway

A 32-year-old motorcyclist died on Friday morning following an accident on the Oncán-Tixpehual highway. The victim, a resident of Tanyá in the Motul municipality, was traveling toward Mérida when he lost control of his Italika motorcycle and was thrown into the roadside vegetation.

Emergency responders from the Municipal Public Security Directorate arrived at the scene but could only confirm the individual's death due to the severity of the injuries. Local police and the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP) cordoned off the area to preserve the scene.

Authorities are investigating several possible causes, including driver fatigue or mechanical failure. Investigators are also looking into whether another vehicle may have collided with the motorcyclist or forced him off the road before fleeing the scene. Personnel from the State Attorney General's Office and the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo) conducted the investigation and body recovery.
