Bar Tempranillo collapse in La Rioja leaves 12 injured
A structural collapse at Bar Tempranillo in San Vicente de la Sonsierra, La Rioja, resulted in twelve injuries during the early hours of Saturday. The incident occurred around 5:25 AM while approximately 50 people were inside the establishment. Preliminary reports indicate the collapse began with the floor giving way, followed by the ceiling and a wall in an adjacent property.
Emergency services, including firefighters, the Guardia Civil, and medical teams, responded to the scene. Between 25 and 30 people were initially reported trapped under the rubble, but search dogs and rescue teams confirmed no one remained buried. Of the twelve injured, one man sustained a possible open leg fracture, while others suffered minor to moderate injuries. Nine individuals were transported to medical facilities, including San Pedro Hospital in Logroño and health centers in Haro.
Local authorities and technical experts, including architects, are investigating the cause of the collapse. Some residents have suggested that pre-existing issues with humidity and underground caves may have contributed to the structural failure. The bar was participating in a local Wine Fest trail at the time of the accident.
