Motorcyclist killed by pothole on Western Highway

Peter Mason, a 71-year-old retired spray painter and inaugural president of the Eureka Social Riders Club, died on Sunday after his motorcycle struck a pothole on the Western Highway near Trawalla, Victoria.

Mason, known as ‘Tiki’, lost control of his vehicle and died at the scene. The incident has sparked significant community anger regarding the condition of the highway, which motorists have described as being in a constant state of disrepair. Reports indicate that previous attempts to patch the road in the area had been unsuccessful.

Tributes have been shared by various motorcycle groups, including the Mutiny Mob Social Club, describing Mason as a respected gentleman. His family is expected to arrive from New Zealand to attend to arrangements.
