Fatal and serious accidents reported in Czech Republic and Slovakia

A series of accidents across the Czech Republic and neighboring Slovakia resulted in multiple injuries and deaths. In the South Bohemian region, a 25‑year‑old motorcyclist on a Suzuki GSX‑600F collided head‑on with an Irisbus coach, causing the bus to catch fire; the rider died at the scene while the bus passengers escaped before the blaze spread.

In eastern Slovakia, 25‑year‑old soldier Tomáš B. of the 5th Artillery Regiment was struck by a Škoda Octavia while jogging near the village of Betliar and later died from his injuries.

Separately, a 79‑year‑old cyclist fell from a height into the Teplá River in Karlovy Vary after his bike overturned; he survived after police and fire crews rescued him.

Police in the South Moravian region also responded to two work‑related falls from heights of about eight to ten metres during a heat wave, involving an internet‑service worker and a construction laborer, both of whom were air‑lifted to hospital.
