Motorcyclist killed in Milan-area highway crash
A 24‑year‑old motorcyclist died after a high‑speed collision on the eastern ring road heading toward Milan on Thursday, 16 July. According to early reconstructions, the rider first struck newly placed road‑closure signs and then collided with a stationary maintenance truck that was parked as part of road‑works. The truck’s driver sustained only minor injuries.
Emergency responders arrived quickly, but the rider was pronounced dead at the scene. Carabinieri and fire‑fighters were among the units that attended the accident, which occurred a few metres from the Vimercate exit.
The incident underscores ongoing safety concerns on Italian motorways under maintenance.
