Five injured in two serious road accidents in Hersfeld‑Rotenburg, Germany

On the night of 11 July, two severe traffic accidents occurred within minutes on Landesstraßen 34 312 and 34 31 in the Hersfeld‑Rotenburg district of Hesse. The first crash involved an 18‑year‑old driver from Niederaula whose car left the road, rolled over in a field and came to rest on its roof. The driver and his two teenage passengers escaped serious but non‑life‑threatening injuries and were taken to nearby hospitals; the vehicle suffered total damage estimated at €17,000.

Approximately 20 minutes later, another 18‑year‑old driver from Bad Hersfeld lost control on a left‑hand curve, collided with a tree, and caused minor injuries to the driver and an 18‑year‑old passenger. Their car also was a total loss, with damages around €5,000. Police investigations into both crashes remain ongoing, with no evidence yet of alcohol or other impairing factors.

Emergency services from the local police, fire brigades and ambulances responded to both scenes, and authorities have urged drivers to adjust speed to road and visibility conditions, especially in curves and after dark.
