Motorcyclist seriously injured in Scalea, Italy after collision with van

On 31 July, an elderly motorcyclist was seriously injured after his motorcycle struck the front left corner of a van at the intersection of via Dalla Chiesa and via Plinio il Vecchio in Scalea, Calabria. The rider fell onto the road and hit the curb, sustaining severe injuries that required evacuation by air ambulance to the Annunziata Hospital in Cosenza, where he was admitted to intensive care with a reserved prognosis.

Local police conducted an on‑site investigation, seizing both the motorcycle and the van while reconstructing the accident dynamics. Further inquiries are ongoing to determine responsibility.
