Motoristé party fails to secure seats in Prague and Brno municipal elections

The Motoristé party faced significant challenges in the recent municipal elections, failing to secure representation in major cities like Prague and Brno. In Prague, the party received 2.94 percent of the vote, and in Brno, it received 2.71 percent, both falling below the five percent threshold required for entry into local assemblies. The party's primary success occurred in Ostrava, where it secured 9.09 percent of the vote and five mandates.

Party leader Petr Macinka noted that Motoristé is not primarily a municipal party, emphasizing that the group focuses more on national politics. Macinka also expressed disagreement with former President Václav Klaus, who had previously advised the party to focus on organizational building rather than entering government.

Filip Turek, a key figure in the party's previous electoral successes, suggested that his absence from the Prague campaign may have negatively impacted the results. However, Macinka maintained that the outcome likely would have been similar regardless of Turek's involvement, citing the time-intensive nature of municipal campaigning.
