Motorola expands Android 17 rollout to over 50 smartphones
Motorola has announced the rollout of the Android 17 update to over 50 smartphone models, spanning the Razr, Edge, and Moto G series, including devices released between 2024 and 2026. The rollout has already begun in some regions, such as India, with the Motorola Edge 70 receiving the update.
A central feature of this update is the expansion of Qira, a shared personal AI assistant developed by Motorola and Lenovo. Qira is designed to provide a unified AI experience across both brands' ecosystems, allowing users to maintain context when switching between devices. Key capabilities include transcribing and summarizing conversations, managing notifications through a “Catch me up” feature, and creative tools like “Creator Zone” for generating images, stickers, and avatars.
Additionally, the update introduces system-level improvements such as stackable mini-apps for the home screen, themed icons, and enhanced notification management. For upcoming hardware, the Motorola Signature 27 is expected to feature a Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 processor and a commitment to seven years of system updates.
