Motorola develops Moto Snap magnetic Qi2 charger

Motorola appears to be developing a new magnetic wireless charger called ‘Moto Snap’ to support the Qi2 standard. Leaked images show a metallic puck connected via a braided USB-C cable, featuring purple accents and the company logo.

The accessory is expected to leverage the Qi2 Magnetic Power Profile (MPP), which uses a magnetic ring to ensure precise alignment between the smartphone and the charger. This alignment is designed to improve energy transfer efficiency and reduce charging inconsistencies. The Motorola Edge 70 Max is noted as the brand's first smartphone to officially support this technology, with the potential to reach wireless charging speeds of at least 25W.

The development of Moto Snap suggests Motorola is working toward building a broader ecosystem of magnetic accessories compatible with the Qi2 standard, moving beyond simple power delivery to a more versatile platform for smartphone attachments.
