Motorola launches Razr Fold flagship foldable smartphone in Japan on Aug 4

Motorola Mobility Japan announced that its first horizontal‑fold flagship, the Motorola Razr Fold, will go on sale in Japan on 4 August 2026. Reservations began 15 July and the device is priced at ¥299,800 through Motorola’s online store, with a discounted ¥199,800 offer from carrier IIJmio.

The Razr Fold features an 8.1‑inch 2K main OLED display and a 6.6‑inch outer OLED screen, both protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3 – the first use of this glass on a foldable. It is built around a Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset, 12 GB RAM, 256 GB storage and a 6000 mAh battery that supports 80 W wired fast‑charging and 15 W wireless charging. The device incorporates a titanium‑reinforced hinge, IP48/49 water‑dust protection and has passed 80 000 open‑close cycles.

Camera hardware includes a triple‑lens 50 MP system (main, ultra‑wide, telephoto) with optical image stabilization and up to 100× super‑zoom, earning top DXOMARK scores for foldables. Two colour options – “Bracken Blue” and “Lily White” – feature vegan leather finishes overseen by Pantone. A dedicated Moto Pen Ultra stylus (¥12 000) is sold separately and can be bundled free with IIJmio. The new Razr Fold aims to address previous foldable shortcomings in camera performance, battery life and durability.
