Motorola Solutions completes $1.5 billion acquisition of D-Fend Solutions

Motorola Solutions has completed its $1.5 billion acquisition of D-Fend Solutions, integrating specialized counter-drone technology into its public safety and enterprise security portfolio.

D-Fend’s EnforceAir platform utilizes an “RF cyber-takeover” method to identify and assume control of unauthorized drones via radio-frequency links. Unlike traditional jamming or kinetic force, this system directs detected aircraft to predefined landing areas without disrupting local communications or interfering with authorized drones. This non-jamming approach is designed for sensitive environments such as airports, stadiums, military bases, and critical infrastructure.

Zohar Halachmi, the current chief executive of D-Fend, will remain in his role and transition to become Motorola Solutions’ senior vice president of counter-drone solutions. D-Fend’s technology is currently deployed in more than 30 countries. Motorola expects the acquisition to contribute to its mission-critical ecosystem, leveraging its global network to expand the reach of the counter-unmanned aircraft systems business.
