Motorola to launch GrapheneOS compatible smartphones in 2027

Motorola is partnering with GrapheneOS to launch its first compatible smartphones in 2027. This marks a major expansion for the privacy-focused, open-source operating system, which has previously relied almost exclusively on Google Pixel hardware to meet its strict security requirements.

The initial lineup is expected to consist of premium flagship devices, including support for both standard and foldable models. Due to the high-end hardware required—specifically Qualcomm Snapdragon processors with advanced security features like Memory Tagging Extension (MTE)—these devices are expected to be priced higher than Google’s Pixel series, potentially entering the four-figure price range.

Unlike standard Android devices, these phones will not come with GrapheneOS pre-installed, but the project will provide official support from launch. Motorola will work closely with GrapheneOS and Qualcomm to ensure hardware-level security integration and provide necessary firmware and drivers.
