Huawei launches WATCH GT 7 Series and explores screen-free wearables

Huawei has expanded its wearable ecosystem with the official launch of the HUAWEI WATCH GT 7 Series, including the GT 7 Pro. Introduced in markets such as Peru, the series is designed for high-performance athletes and fitness enthusiasts, focusing on training, recovery, and health metrics.

The GT 7 Pro features a premium build using titanium alloy, nanotechnological ceramic, and sapphire crystal. It offers extensive battery life, with reports of up to 21 days in light use and 12 days in typical use. Key health capabilities include monitoring heart rate, blood oxygen (SpO2), stress, sleep, and emotional well-being through 12 different states.

For outdoor activities, the device includes over 100 training modes, specifically enhanced for cycling, skiing, and golf. Specialized cycling features include real-time slope data, ascent planning, and a wrist-based power meter to measure output in watts. The watch also incorporates safety features like audio and visual alerts for sharp curves when using pre-loaded routes.

Additionally, Huawei is reportedly researching a “screen-free” smart band form factor. Surveys conducted via the Huawei Health app suggest the company is exploring minimalist, display-less wearables to reduce daily distractions while maintaining continuous health and activity tracking.
