Motorsport Australia launches philanthropic foundation at Bathurst 1000
Motorsport Australia has officially established the Motorsport Australia Foundation, a philanthropic organization designed to ensure the sustainable growth of the sport through investments in workforce development, skill acquisition, and community participation. The foundation was unveiled at the Mount Panorama circuit during the Bathurst 1000 event.
Operating in partnership with the Australian Sports Foundation, the new entity aims to secure funding from corporate partners, government bodies, and individual supporters. The foundation’s inaugural fundraising campaign has set a target of $500,000, specifically intended to provide expanded training, mentoring, and support for the approximately 12,500 volunteer officials who facilitate motorsport events across Australia.
Key industry stakeholders, including Supercars, the Australian Grand Prix Corporation, and SRO Motorsports Australia, have already committed financial support to the initiative. Motorsport Australia president Andrew Fraser emphasized that the foundation is essential for investing in the people and programs that underpin the sport’s long-term success.
