Mouhamed Ali Ndiaye: The journey of a Senegalese boxer to Italy

Boxer Mouhamed Ali Ndiaye has transitioned to a new life in Italy following his professional sports career. His unique journey began in Pikine, Senegal, influenced heavily by his father, Moussa Ndiaye, a former boxer and admirer of the American legend Muhammad Ali.

Ndiaye was named after his father’s idol, and the family famously established contact with Muhammad Ali during the champion’s visits to Senegal in 1980 and 1990. Ndiaye began boxing at age 12 in 1991 at the Battling Siki Memorial and rose through the ranks under the guidance of mentors such as Joseph Diouf, Antoine Marème Mbengue, and Alex Tavarez.

His athletic success included winning the Senegalese national championship three times between 1997 and 1999. His career eventually led him from Senegal to Pontedera, Italy, where he has since focused on his post-boxing life.
