Mouila authorities and partners launch female cancer awareness campaign

In Mouila, Gabon, the municipal government, the Société des brasseries du Gabon (SOBRAGA), and the Mouila Regional Hospital Center (CHRM) have partnered to host an awareness conference focused on female cancers. Held as part of the ‘Pink October’ initiative, the event aimed to educate local authorities and the community on breast and cervical cancer.

Medical professionals, including gynecologist Dr. Simo Tekem Wicky Noël, emphasized the critical importance of early screening. Data presented by the CHRM indicated that between 2022 and 2024, nearly half of the patients seen in consultation exhibited lesions or risk factors related to female cancers. The conference addressed risk factors such as alcohol and tobacco consumption, as well as the role of the human papillomavirus (HPV) in cervical cancer.
