Moulvi Muhammad Baqir: The printer who resisted the British Empire

During the aftermath of the 1857 uprising in Shahjahanabad, now known as Old Delhi, the British colonial state conducted widespread punishments, including public executions and the clearing of neighborhoods.

Among those affected was Moulvi Muhammad Baqir, a 77-year-old man who utilized a printing press rather than weapons to oppose the empire. Following his arrest, he was executed by the colonial state within three days without a trial.
