Mount Athos pilgrimage cruise organized by Holy Metropolis of Kition

The Holy Metropolis of Kition, Katerini, and Platamona organized a pilgrimage cruise to Mount Athos on Tuesday, August 25. The event provided approximately 180 pilgrims, including Greek and foreign tourists from Pieria, the opportunity to experience the monastic state through a sea voyage around the inner side of the Athos Peninsula.

Metropolitan Georgios of Kition, Katerini, and Platamona accompanied the group along with local clergy. During the voyage, monks from the Holy Monastery of Simonopetra brought sacred relics on board for the pilgrims to venerate. The religious service included the chanting of the Akathist Hymn to the Virgin Mary and a blessing performed by the Metropolitan.

Metropolitan Georgios expressed his gratitude to Archimandrite Elisaios, the Hegumen of the Holy Monastery of Simonopetra, for facilitating the veneration of the relics. The initiative was designed to allow participants to learn about the monastic life and the Holy Monasteries of the peninsula.
