Mount Fuji rescue teams deployed following multiple hiking accidents

Multiple mountain rescue incidents occurred on Mount Fuji's Fujinomiya Trail over a single weekend, prompting authorities to recall off-duty rescue personnel to assist with the surge in emergencies.

On Saturday, a 45-year-old Taiwanese tourist participating in a guided group suffered a severe ankle injury after slipping near the seventh station while descending. She was rescued by a mountain rescue team and transported to a hospital. Other incidents on the same day included a 51-year-old Japanese man suffering from altitude sickness and sprains, as well as two female tourists from Singapore and Malaysia who required assistance due to altitude sickness at the summit.

On Sunday, a 43-year-old man from Kanagawa Prefecture injured his right leg after falling near the New Seventh Station while climbing with friends. After reaching a health center at the eighth station with assistance, he was eventually transported down to the fifth station via bulldozer by the Shizuoka Prefectural Police mountain rescue team.

Authorities are urging hikers to ensure they have proper anti-slip equipment and to cancel climbing plans if they experience physical discomfort or if weather conditions are unfavorable.
