Mount Olympus development plan receives €8 million funding

Authorities have approved 22 priority projects for the Thessalian Mount Olympus region with an indicative budget of approximately €7.99 million. The Integrated Territorial Investment (ITI) Action Plan was officially presented in Elassona, attended by regional governor Dimitris Kouretas, Mayor Nikos Gatsas, and Member of Parliament Giannis Karipidis.

The plan aims to link the protection of the natural environment with regional development. Following UNESCO's recognition of Mount Olympus as a cultural asset of universal value, these interventions are expected to boost tourism, promote local products, and preserve the area's cultural heritage. The region is noted for its significant biodiversity, hosting approximately 1,700 plant species, representing 25% of Greece's flora.
