Mount Rainier National Park Announces Free Entry and Road Updates for July 4 Weekend

Mount Rainier National Park will waive all entrance fees for the July 3‑5 Independence Day holiday weekend. Visitors are urged to arrive early or late to avoid congestion at popular spots such as Paradise and Sunrise.

Sunrise Road is scheduled to open on July 4, with information services at the Sunrise Visitor Center. The White River Campground is partially open (loops A & B only) and provides no water; portable toilets are available. A park‑wide fire ban prohibits all open‑flame cooking.

The Jackson Visitor Center and Paradise Inn remain open at Paradise, while the Longmire Museum and National Park Inn stay open at Longmire. Wilderness information centers continue operating at Longmire, Paradise, and White River. The Ohanapecosh Campground area stays closed for construction, and the Silver Falls Trail is limited to an out‑and‑back hike from the Grove of the Patriarchs. Access to Carbon River and Mowich Lake remains unavailable due to the SR‑165/Fairfax Bridge closure.
