Mount Sinai Hospital and SickKids implement Hypercare messaging

Mount Sinai Hospital and The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) in Toronto have implemented a secure communication workflow using the Hypercare platform to improve collaboration between neonatal and paediatric specialists.

Previously, clinicians at Mount Sinai’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) relied on cumbersome processes, including contacting switchboards and waiting for callbacks via physical pagers. The new system allows nurse practitioners and physicians to connect directly with on-call specialists across various subspecialties, such as cardiology, gastroenterology, and genetics.

The platform enables asynchronous messaging and secure photo sharing, allowing specialists to see the nature of a consultation before responding. This digital coordination layer is intended to reduce communication delays, streamline clinical decision-making, and support faster discharge planning and bedside care.
