Mount Tomorr pilgrimage begins with increased security measures

The traditional Bektashi pilgrimage to Mount Tomorr has commenced, marking a significant spiritual and cultural event for the community. Thousands of believers from Albania and the diaspora are traveling to the Kulmak Tekke to participate in the Baba Tomorr festivities.

The massive influx of visitors has caused significant traffic congestion on roads leading to the mountain. In response, the Berat Local Police Directorate has implemented a specialized security and traffic management plan. This operation involves multiple police units, fire services, and regional medical facilities to ensure public safety and facilitate movement.

To manage the crowds, authorities have established specific itineraries for vehicles traveling to and from the mountain. Additionally, heavy tonnage vehicles are restricted on several key routes, including the Vlashuk–Kuçovë–Berat and Berat–Çorovodë axes, during daytime hours to prevent further blockages.
