Mount Vernon basketball coach pleads guilty to child sexual abuse
Dwayne Murray, a 63-year-old youth basketball coach in Mount Vernon, pleaded guilty in County Court to Sexual Conduct Against a Child in the First Degree, a violent felony.
According to the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office, the abuse occurred between October 1, 2023, and March 1, 2024, and involved a victim under the age of 13. District Attorney Susan Cacace stated that Murray exploited his position of authority and used his public platform to deny the allegations, which compounded the trauma for the victim.
Murray was arrested on May 14, 2025, following a tip that led to an investigation by the Criminal Investigators Squad. He now faces a substantial sentence.
