Mount Victoria residents campaign for local skatepark

Brothers Riley, Michael, and Simon Marneros are campaigning for a new skatepark in Mount Victoria to avoid long commutes to nearby facilities in Lithgow or Lawson. The family initiated a petition to advocate for local infrastructure, citing difficulties with highway traffic and railway delays when traveling to existing parks.

Their mother, Laura, noted that while the local area has magnificent parks, it lacks specific youth opportunities and social interaction spaces provided by skateparks. A spokesperson for the Blue Mountains City Council stated that the council recently secured approximately $1.6 million in government grants for major upgrades in Mount Victoria.
