Mountain culture initiatives launched in Italy

Various regional initiatives in Italy are focusing on mountain culture and environmental engagement. In the Valle dei Laghi, the 20th edition of the Mese Montagna festival, themed ‘Beyond the Wall: Stories of Rock and Community’, is scheduled from November 6 to 27. The program features international mountaineering figures, including climbing champions Liv Sansoz and the Basque brothers Eneko and Iker Pou, alongside literary presentations and excursions.

In Lombardy, the regional government has launched the ‘Tell Me About Your Mountain’ school competition. Aimed at students, the contest encourages the use of videos, photography, and podcasts to promote the region's high-altitude territories. Nine classes will be awarded prizes, including mountain refuge stays and outdoor activities, to foster a connection between younger generations and the alpine environment.
