Mountain emergencies reported in Styria and Tyrol

Two separate mountain incidents occurred in Austria involving medical emergencies and accidents.

In Tragöß-Sankt Katharein, a 46-year-old man lost consciousness while hiking near the Sonnschienalm. Bystanders and a hunter performed resuscitation efforts. Due to a lack of mobile phone reception at the site, a person had to descend toward the valley to alert emergency services. The man was stabilized by mountain rescue and firefighters before being airlifted by helicopter to LKH Hochsteiermark for intensive care.

In the Wilder Kaiser region near Kirchdorf in Tirol, a rockfall injured two climbers. A large stone fell approximately ten to fifteen meters after a climber attempted to clear a tangled rope from a route. A 45-year-old man sustained serious injuries, while a 25-year-old man suffered minor injuries. Both victims, along with two other climbers, were rescued via helicopter and transported to hospitals in Kufstein and St. Johann in Tirol.
