Mountain gendarmes rescue 89-year-old hiker in Băile Herculane

Mountain gendarmes in Băile Herculane successfully located an 89-year-old man who had gone missing while hiking alone toward Grota cu Aburi. The search was initiated after his 86-year-old friend raised an alarm when the man failed to return.

The individual was found safe on the trail approximately 30 minutes after the search began. Although he was not properly equipped for a mountain hike, he reported feeling well and did not require medical attention. Gendarmes escorted both men back to their accommodation.

The Caraș-Severin County Gendarmerie used the incident to remind hikers to prepare adequately by choosing appropriate routes, carrying sufficient food and water, using proper equipment, and avoiding solo treks in the mountains.
